86 - Seeing Red

"You're insane."

She smiled, slender fingers tracing invisible lines down her pale cheek. "I told you, I'm an angel. I'll be an angel no matter what anyone says. I can overcome any obstacle in the world. That's everyone's dream, isn't it? Don't you see that?"

I didn't. I couldn't see it any more than the body slumped beside her could breathe. We were both blind, and no one could help us--she was only seeing her insane delusions, and I was only seeing red.

Well, my last theme was uploaded what, three, four months ago? Joy to all! Anyway, this is the result of me crawling desperately out of that inescapable tragedy called work.

Originally, I drew the model with a blank and expressionless face, but I changed it (and got inspired for that writing snippet up above). Also, I wanted to have extra red smeared on her other hand, streaking down her face, or red eyes, but I figured it was going overboard. I rather like it this way. I wanted to put lace border accents, too, and I still think I should, but I'll leave it for now.

It looks so blank like it wants to be colored, and I'm upset about how blank it is, but what are you gonna do? Anyway, as you might notice, I tried out a new style of drawing--flat black and white (and red), pens only. Fun experiment? It was.

Practiced style, details, fingernails (yes, first time drawing them) and hair.
